July 2007

Yes, I know it’s been quite a while since I have updated my site. I did promise that I will post a swimsuit photo and today is the day. Yeah, I finally gained the courage to take a pic and post it. I know that it is not a very clear shot but I guess I am a little camera shy.
Little Noah is constantly changing and has been very challenging over the past few months. He is almost 2 and I am already experience the “Terrible 2’s” syndrome. He has been testing me and letting me know who is boss. Well, he has been boss quite a few times so I still do have quite a bit more to learn in the area of discipline. Here he is having fun at the beach!!! Boy does he love the water!!!

Anyway, this month will be the start of a mission for myself. I will be undergoing a 3-month transformation to determine whether or not I will be ready to step on stage again. I really do miss competing and most of all I miss seeing my abs. But I do know that my abs will not look the same as they did before but I am willing to try my best to see the end result. Will it be good enough to compete or will it be good enough for a photo shoot? I guess you and I will just have to wait and see!!!

October 2006

Hi Everyone,

Summer time is over!! Well, it’s the same climate for me all year round but I will say that it is Scorching Hot. I did get a chance to visit Aruba , which was so windy, I might add, to attend a bodybuilding seminar by Milos Sarcev. It was a family outing and it was also a great first Father’s Day Gift for Antonio. The trip did not go so smoothly though. It started off with missing boarding passes, to cancelled seats but we did manage to get there and have a great time.

In regards to my weight, it is going down slowly but surely. Most days I have to squeeze in a 30 minute workout before going home to my Little Noah. He is growing so fast. Noah celebrated his first birthday on September 27th and is also attending play school.

On days that I do not get to the gym, I would take him for a walk on a steep hill close to home to burn some calories. He adds quite a bit of resistance there!!

I would really like to compete sometime next year so I have started to change my diet drastically and hopefully by the end of the year I will see a familiar body.

June 2006

I cannot believe that it’s June already. Sorry for taking half the year to update my website. That’s just unacceptable!!!
However, I spent all of that time on my family, which was very necessary. We found out that our sweet little Angel Noah has a problem with one of his eyes so that’s where all my time was spent. We also had to travel a few times to Curacao with him. (very close to South America - for all my fans that do not know where that island is located) We then traveled to Holland and stayed there for five weeks in which time we were able to have Noah see a Pediatric Ophthalmologist for treatment. Of course, while we were there, I got a chance to do some sightseeing, since this was my first time there…..and a little bit of shopping. I used to love shopping but since everything does not fit right, I have no desire to shop much. I also trained a few times at the Body Improvement Gym in Rotterdam. It felt good to train hard again. They also had some equipment that we did not have back home so I used them well. Thanks Mile & Claudia!!!
Oh Yes, it was a little cold for me on some days but I did have a good trip overall.
Check out the pics!!!
Now we are back in Sint Maarten, it’s hot like crazy and it’s not even Summer as yet.
So you also know what that means…….beach photos!!! I know that I did promise to post one in a swimsuit. Eventually there will be pics with me alone with frontal, side and rear view, just like the old days….Just not now….but keep checking back.

January 2006

Happy New Year!!!!

May all our Fitness Goals come true this year. Mine especially….not meaning to be selfish but I miss my old clothes. I started to fit into some of the pieces but not the “skinny jeans”.
I know…..I am very late updating my site this month.
Well, I started back on the job and it has been hectic juggling being there for most of the day and then going home to my sweetie pies. Little Noah has refused to go on a schedule so I am basically taking it as it comes. On some days it is pretty routine and then there are other days when it goes haywire. I am sad to say that I also have not been able to get to the gym as I did before. However, I try to do my cardio at home on my “health rider” or take Noah for a walk around the neighborhood. I live on a hill that has an incredible incline, so add some baby resistance, and you have a great workout for the legs as well as my arms just from holding him. He is getting heavier as the days go by.
In the photo, I am at my work place at the pool with Noah. We were having a New Years brunch for our clients. Oh yes, my oven was finally fixed just in time so I did manage to get some cakes make for Christmas, YEAH!!!!!

Last but not least, I would like to wish all my fans a Blessed 2006.

December 2005

Happy Holidays!

It’s that time of the year again. It seems like it was just the other day I was talking about baking my fruitcakes in the first entry of this journal. Unfortunately, I do not think that I will get a chance to bake as usual this year. For one reason, the oven is out at the moment and it might not be ready before Christmas and of course, if Little Noah allows me all that time to do it. Actually, it still could be possible so I should not blame my little sweetie pie.

Well, it feels good to be back in the gym pushing those weights. I actually loved to feel that muscle pain in my legs after my workouts. I really missed that!! The only thing is that I still cannot go all out as yet so that’s a little frustrating. I was laughing at myself doing lunges the other day because of how unstable my adductors are still. My legs were moving like jello!! Perseverance is key this month. And I will be sticking it out until I am back to normal.

I was supposed to take the before photo and post it so that you, my wonderful fans would get a chance to track my progress but I was a little chicken. I hope that you can forgive me for that but I will do it, I promise….However, I did loose approximately 30 pounds already but I have still quite a bit more to go before I am at my pre-pregnancy weight. My goal is to reach 120 pounds and fit it into my “skinny jeans”.

November 2005

I cannot believe that a month has passed by already. I am still getting used to being a Mom. It is a great feeling so far except for those sleepless nights for both Antonio and I. Spending these days with Noah will truly be days that I will cherish forever.

This is the month that I am going to start weight training, YEH!!! I suppose I will have to take it slowly until I feel like “myself” fully. The hips are giving problems so I will have to be more careful with the lower body. Just my luck, since that is my main trouble-spot to begin with. Anyway, Patience is the Key!

I am also pleased to share an article that was printed in Body Fitness, which is a British Magazine. These photos were taken by Terry Goodlad last year when I was in Las Vegas for the Olympia. I spent a day with Terry and Elaine after the O doing this shoot. They are both such great people. I was really excited to see the photos and the article.

YES! This is more motivation for when I start the gym. I also just received an e-mail from another photographer, Bill Dobbins. He sent me a link to a magazine is Spain where he submitted a photo of me. I hope that you all can find me in there, He He!!

Check the MediaXposure page to see the latest magazine coverage.

October 2005

NEWS FLASH: I am proud to announce that my little bundle of joy arrived two weeks early. Due to the fact that he was growing a little too fast, the doctors recommended that they induced labor. I agreed and it was done and Noah Ken-Ichi Gummels was born on September 27, 2005 at 3:02PM. Let me be the first to tell you ladies out there, who never gave birth, that the experience was no picnic in the park. It was the most painful thing I ever experienced for 6 hours, but when it was all said and done, Little Noah’s arrival gave me amnesia. That day, there were 6 deliveries back to back and each one was different….mine was the last!!

Well, once the recuperation process is over, it will be back in the gym for me. I am really looking forward to hitting the weights. I certainly do have a long road ahead of me to lose this weight. Ready or not, here I come!!!

Sept 2005

Hello Everyone,

It’s September already……………it’s now the home stretch for me until the baby arrives. It has been a long journey so far but the time did go by fast for me. It’s just amazing how much has changed due to pregnancy. Although I know how much I love both my parents, this experience has made me more aware of how each one of us should appreciate our Mothers. During pregnancy, you are not yourself anymore, you are living basically for the baby inside of you….it totally consumes your physical, mental and emotional being. It’s just amazing of how much changes you go through because of the baby. Well enough of that stuff but I just had to mention it!!

I was also wonderfully surprised by my boss and colleagues with a baby shower last week Friday. Lots of gifts, lots of food and cake!!!! I was so touched by it!!

I was so lost before on the items that needed to be purchased for the baby and did not really begin to really shop. But I think it’s was a sign because I received so many gifts from the party and am still awaiting some being shipped by my sister-in-law from Holland. I am certain I will have everything I need before the big day arrives.

I went to the beach last Sunday and took those pics………..you do not want to know how much I weigh now. I cannot believe it myself and I am not telling.

I think we need to start planning the biggest project that Antonio & I will have for me to get back into shape. It will be a killer but I am looking forward to it.

July 2005

Hi there,

I had a wonderful time at the beach and decided to take a few pics to let everyone see my progress. I will say that it is more difficult for me to be at the beach at this point in my pregnancy. Normally I would lay on the sand and do some reading. But now I have to dig a hole in the sand to sit in because I should not be laying flat for a long period when you are beyond 4 months. It's very funny to see me doing it and then laying down on my sunken towel but it's very comfortable. It's like my very own customized beach lounge chair. Have a Good Laugh and Enjoy the pics!

June 2005

Hello Everyone!

I will say that the past couple of weeks have been very good for me.
My pregnancy is coming along very nicely. Of course, you will see that I have gotten larger in size (sigh) but that’s all part of the game. Unfortunately, I have not been able to train on a regular basis but do try to keep active when I can. I do believe that I will be a maniac in the gym after the baby is here, to get back my figure. I sincerely miss training hard and am looking forward to getting back into it later on.

I had the opportunity to travel to the US for a couple of days. I had the greatest pleasure of meeting Charles Poliquin, one of the greatest performance trainers, and attending his Bio Signature Modulation Seminar in Arizona. It was a great learning experience for me. It’s a pity, I cannot not put it to practice right now. There was so much to learn during the two-day seminar.
I must say that the weather in Arizona was INCREDIBLE!!!!
I live on an island but that heat was u-n-b-e-a-r-a-b-l-e but it was really nice to get away for a short vacation.

In the 1st picture are from left to right: Our friend Rene from Aruba, me, Charles and Antonio. The 2nd picture is showing me taking a skinfold reading of the abs of steel from Strength and Conditioning level 1 trainer Joseph Hayes from Hayes Sports Performance in Scituate, MA. The 3rd picture is showing Charles and I at the Poliquin Performance Center in Phoenix, AZ.

May 2005

Hello Everyone,

I have some more pics to share. These were taken on Sunday and as I mentioned, these are not my usual pre-contest pics so look at your own risk!!!
I am gaining weight rapidly and still have not gotten used to my body. I think that I gain about one to two pounds every week. The weight training and cardio, sadly to say has been to a minimum of 2 – 3 times per week. But, it has now come to my attention that I am ADDICTED to training and because I cannot train the way that I normally do, I am not motivated to go to the gym on a daily basis. I think that it makes me more depressed to see people training that way and I cannot so most of the times I do my own training at home along with my cardio. However, I am totally motivated to get back into it after the baby comes. I miss competing and doing photo shoots already………..cannot wait to get back into it next year.

April 2005

I must apologize for not updating my website sooner. There was so much going on in my life for the past couple of weeks and I hope that when I let you in on a little secret, I will be excused.

I am excited to announce that I am 12 weeks pregnant!!

What can I say, between the fatigue from the pregnancy and busyness on the job, I just have not had the energy to focus very well. I was going to update the site yesterday, being the first of the month, April 1st, but I did not think that it was not the most appropriate date to do so. I did not want it to seem like that my announcement was really an “April Fools Joke”. I took a few pics last weekend at the beach so everyone will see what I am looking like at this point in time.

Just like the pre-contest pics I have shared with you, my wonderful fans from all over the world, it is also my intention to share these months with you. And afterwards, God’s Willing, everything is going as planned and I am physically able to start training intensely and diet, the next major task will be to transform myself to pre-contest shape once again.
I have not stopped my training, however, I have made major changes in the way that I train and the amount of weights being used. I will say that I am trying to eat in a healthful manner, but I have not been very successful. I simply cannot stomach the smell and taste of chicken breast and fish but I am not going overboard either. I will have to admit that when I see other people in the gym training hard, grunting looks on their faces, I am feeling a little jealous. Crazy, But true!!!!

February 2005

The month of January went by very fast. I have been spending my time working my butt off literally at the job and of course, in the gym as well. Most days I would be so exhausted from the job and just by stepping into the gym, it makes all the stressful woes go away.
Sometimes, it actually makes me train harder so that’s a good thing.
I have been meaning to go to the beach to take some more off-season shots but the weather has not been very favorable on Sundays. The weekend would arrive and Saturday is absolutely beautiful so I get my hopes up for the following day.
Of course, Sunday arrives and I look out the window and see grey clouds instead of bright blue like the previous day. Let’s see what happens next time.
This weekend I already made plans so the beach is out of the question but next weekend ….it’s a date!!!!

I did receive an offer to travel to Italy in the summer for a Fitness Vacation being organized by the Dutch Muscle & Fitness and I hope that it comes through for me.
That would be such a great experience to be in Europe and to be involved in such an event.
I live to help others in their quest for fitness…..it’s something that I do practically on a daily basis, both to friends and strangers and I just love doing it.

I would like to thank everyone for sending me e-mails with their questions, compliments and just saying Hi. It’s all really appreciated! Keep it coming!

Make sure to keep checking back because I have some delicious things in store coming up for YOU!!

January 2005

Happy New Year to One & All.
I wish everyone a Happy, Healthy, Peaceful & Successful Year 2005.

Every new year brings changes, both good and bad. Let us make this year one that we can all remember. For the ones that have suffered in tragedies around the world, let us extend our hearts and love out to them. Let us be thankful for the things that we have and never forget how easily it can all be lost. We should live each day to its fullest.

On another note;

I hope that everyone is not too hung over from last night's events. Antonio & I had a great night out, great dinner, fireworks, no champagne (I am not a very good drinker). The waiter could not believe that we were refusing the champagne and were ordering water.

I am all prepared mentally to get back on my diet on Monday. The next time I post some recent photos, they should be looking much better that the one posted below which was taken on December 26th, 2004. I was thinking about putting up monthly shots of myself to see my progress from the Holiday binge.

I hope that all my fans achieve their fitness goals for the new year and please do not hesitate to contact me by e-mail. I really enjoy hearing from you. I may take a day or two to respond sometimes but I will get back to you.

I almost forgot to mention that my picture can be seen in three different magazines this month: Dutch Muscle & Fitness, Muscle & Fitness Hers & Muscular Development. The most recent editions of all of them.... Click on the links to see them.

Antonio also had his shot of fame in the recent Musclemag next to Mr. O, Ronnie Coleman. They could have had a serious posedown in the forearm category.

Thanks again for all the support that you have given me.

Lots of xoxoxxo

Allison

December 31, 2004

The end of the year is now upon us. I know that next week, there will be lots of us who will be getting back into the swing of things especially where our diets are concerned. I definitely had too much to eat and I am making myself sick literally. Anyway, everyone deserves a break every now and again and what better time to do it than during the Holidays. I also did something different. I cut my hair. You will see a new photo at the bottom of the friends section. I still have to get used to it. Let me know what you think, honestly.

December 24, 2004

Hello Everyone!

I am finally writing in my journal. It has been a very busy couple of weeks here on the beautiful island of St. Maarten. This is actually the busiest time of the year for me on the job!!!

Anyway, I would like to thank everyone, first of all, for visiting my site. Please make it a habit to visit often since it is being updated on a regular basis.

Happy Holidays to Everyone! This is the time of the year that we tend to overdo with the treats. I know that’s my big problem here but this time I am surely making an effort to be a “Good Girl”.

Every year, I make special fruit cakes. Here on the islands we call it “black cake”. Last Sunday, I spent the afternoon doing just that. My highlight of making these cakes since I am now baking in an electric oven is the way I scare myself. The cakes are filled with so much alcohol, it flames up from time to time if I do not open the oven. I would open the oven, it flames out (not too dangerously) and I scream.

Anyway, I will be going back to my Christmas preparations now so it was nice being here for the first time. Unfortunately, the gym has closed early ? so there will not be a workout for me today. I guess it will be on Monday after all the celebrations.
I will need to work extra hard.
